My name is Bekka, and this is a blog of my adventures in the culinary and home-making arts.  I’m a fresh-out-of-college graduate looking to learn how to cook well and write it down so others can learn with me!

My wonderful mother, Vicki, taught me to cook in high school, and I’ve been in love with it ever since.  She’s passed many of her fabulous recipes and techniques on to me.  Dad and Mom love to cook and eat, and so whenever I came home from college, we’d set up a special budget to buy fresh ingredients and cook yummy new recipes.  They consistently and lovingly nurtured this passion in me.

On January 3, 2013, my fiance Drew asked me to marry him.  In just a short sixty-six days, I will marry of the love of my life, the most amazing man I’ve ever met.

Drew loves food.  We love to cook and eat together. His mom is an incredible cook and runs her own gourmet catering business.  I’ve learned a lot from watching her and talking to her.  She’s promised to teach me so hopefully some of those things will end of here too!

In May, I graduated college.  Identity crisis!  I remember sitting in my bed the day I got home and wondering what on earth I could do with myself in the summer. I knew I wanted to spend time learning more about cooking, especially since I will be cooking for Drew starting in August.  It is one of the biggest blessings I have ever received to cook for him and build a home with him.  That’s when I decided on the blog!

Cooking brings people together.  It builds community.  I love it because it is such a simple way to serve and share the love of Christ with others.  It is a delicious and easy way to make someone else feel loved.  It’s a passion and an art.

So here we go, blogging friends.  A brand new journey of learning to cook yummy foods for Drew and build a home with him.  Hopefully this blog will chronicle our  adventures together, trying new things.

Bon appetit!
